Spiritual Formation Coaching Training
Imago Christi Denver Affiliate Community - An Invitation
We would like to invite you to participate in an expression of the Order of Imago Christi (OIC) called the Denver Affiliate Community. During this monthly experience we will share the life of our community in our rhythms of gathering spiritual community, and training missional coaches in spiritual formation. It is our purpose as a larger community to experience the Love of Christ together, allowing our hearts to be transformed into the Image of Christ, which impacts every area of our life and the way we do ministry in the Church or on mission.
It has always been a central part of our calling as the Imago Christi Core Community to replicate spiritual formative community by establishing OIC Affiliate Communities around the world. The Denver Affiliate Community is designed to replicate our Core Community by inviting all willing participants to experience our Gathering rhythms, centered around the Love of Christ, one Saturday morning a month, starting February 25, 2017. Afterwards we are inviting a select few to participate in the training of our own local OIC members, in our Second Order Calling to promote First Order life and ministry across the Body of Christ.
Two Rhythms of the life of the Order of Imago Christi:
Cultivating First Order Calling
The central "Gathering rhythms" of our community foster our First Order calling to love God with our whole beings in community. During our Saturday morning meetings, we will engage in contemplative worship together, practice a spiritual prayer exercise, and share and minister to one another in prayer. It is our intention to invite participants from the wider Denver community to participate in this rhythm of life with us, thereby getting a taste of our life together.
Cultivating Our Second Order Calling
The core of our "Missional rhythms" calling, the key way we ‘love our neighbor’ is to help them discover and grow in their own First Order Calling. This lies at the heart of our Imago Christi Spiritual Formation Discovery events. One of the ways that our Core Community extends this calling into the wider Church is through Spiritual Formation Coaching. In developing this term, we have taken the approach and riches of spiritual direction and applied them to transform the model of effectiveness coaching, in order to create an innovative model of "coaching for spiritual formation" that is more accessible, affordable and replicable across the Church and its mission.
As part of our calling to train missional leaders in spiritual formation, we invite you to participate in our Community's Spiritual Formation Coaches training, so that you can effectively bring the life and skills of Spiritual Formation Discovery into the lives and ministries in your local context.
The second half of our Denver Affiliate Community meetings will be dedicated to training you in Community as a missional spiritual formation coach, as we read and discuss key materials, model and practice the skills of spiritual formation coach in triads.
We envision a cohort training sequence spanning two years of nine monthly meetings per year. You will gain the solid conceptual understandings needed, as well as the valuable practical experience, which will enable you to journey out of Community as a Spiritual Formation Coach, to help others explore their First Order Calling, and its overflow into their Second Order Callings in the world.
