Kevin J. Navarro is a spiritual friend and spiritual formation coach for frontline leaders in the ministry and marketplace. He comes to CRM and Imago Christi with 33 years of ministry experience as an International Director with Continental Ministries, various ministry roles (youth pastor, worship pastor, adult ministries pastor) and most recently as a pastor of an Evangelical Free Church for 23 years. He is ordained in the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA). Kevin has also been married to his best friend, who has served with him in ministry, for 28 years. They are the parents of four sons and one daughter.
He has also served in the academic community having taught pastoral theology, spiritual theology and liturgical theology at Denver Seminary, A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary, Pacific Rim Christian College and at the University of Manchester, UK. He holds undergraduate degrees in music and music education from the University of Northern Colorado, a Master of Divinity from Denver Seminary, a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Spirituality from the School of Theology at Fuller Seminary, and a Doctor of Missiology in leadership and ethnomusicology from the School of Intercultural Studies at Fuller Seminary. He is also a PhD candidate at the University of Manchester in theology. Kevin is the author of The Complete Worship Leader (Baker Books, 2001) and The Complete Worship Service (Baker Books, 2005) (see Books).
Kevin desires to offer perspective and hope for frontline leaders who are in the middle of the battle. Many desire a spiritual friend for the journey. Some are discouraged and need encouragement. Others are lonely and need a brother in Christ. Others are working through criticism and betrayal and need prayer and guidance. Others are going through transitions and need lifelong leadership perspective.
"I desire to offer to others what has been offered to me by my own leadership mentors, counselors, and spiritual directors. I am grateful for those who gave me hope and perspective during my own desolations and dark nights of the soul. Now I want to return the favor. Finally, I desire to see people have encounters with God’s Empowering Presence through healing and ministry prayer." As much as the Body of Christ needs this kind of ministry, those that are in leadership need it all that much more.
